There is the idea of fundamental needs / basic rights, that have mostly been encoded into law, e.g. right to health care, need food to live, and even somewhat quantified (3 weeks without food, 3 days without water, 3 hours without shelter, 3 mins without air not entirely accurate but it gives a general picture)

A good representation of standard needs is something like maslow hierarchy of needs

Maslow’s hierarchy of needs - Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia although this is also subject to changes between generations of people and models can only approximate the truth so it is not like the perfect list of needs either. See the Wifi modification to the maslow hierarchy of needs

Beyond that I think people have other ’needs’ and they might not necessarily be the same as other people. Like I need my obsidian system, or some other note-taking system, actually need it to keep my life organized and without this (if I had to go back to bullet journalling, I could survive but my life would be a mess and my quality of life would go down significantly)

These needs might also just be developed as we age and customizing our setup has hidden costs because then we get so used to the ease of our setup that it is really hard to work with the standard setup. E.g. blog-my tech setup with my moonlander set for Colemak-dh Keyboard Layout makes it really hard to just wander over to another person’s computer and type as I used to on QWERTY.
