About Me

As of July 2022, I am a PhD student in Singapore (AI 🎮 > MARL > Comms Learning). I like to optimize and automate my productivity system in Obsidian and my daily routines. I am often inspired by webnovels and fanfics I read 📚 so you may see quotes sparking zettels in my Zettelkasten

What I’m Working On

  1. I’ve decided to be a Content Creator 👩‍💼 Why create content. On my Youtube Channel I make videos about productivity, specifically implementing productivity systems, lifestyle and what I’ve learnt about being a content creator (this bit is still in the works (⁄ ⁄>⁄ ▽ ⁄<⁄ ⁄). A good place to start would be my Advanced Obsidian Workflow playlist
    • Blog - You are here. I write blog posts but mainly focus on the note-blogging aspect, which is the Zettelkasten -
    • Youtube Channel - Working on my video production speed (currently at 1 per month, goal = 1 per week)
    • Newsletter…(haha well it is a goal)
    • Podcast - ehh once I get a 4000 watch hours I shall start my podcast
  2. Health & Mental Health - They are interlinked so (*˘︶˘*).。.:*♡ . This is my top priority of the year and I am not quite sure if I should post about this here :)
    • Diet: Keto-vore (Mix of Keto / Carnivore) has been working well for me, when I can keep to it. I’m a foodie so this is really hard.
    • Exercise: Daily walks have been really good for my mood, insulin sensitivity (tested with CGM) and also
    • Tracking: I want to track things automatically for more health data, incorporate journalling into my life and try out different health measures e.g. CGMs because You only improve what you measure
    • Life: I want work life balance, and after doing the odyssey plan I am working on realigning my life towards a future that I want. So working on Relationships, What kind of career do I want and
    • Social: I want to spend time with friends and family more meaningfully, with a focus on creating memories and actual interaction (fun activities! chatting and playing co-op games) instead of just sharing space while staring at phone / tv.
  3. Finances (wanna figure out how to make money doing remote async work or at least remote work and also if my current skills are actually a viable way for me to make money if I don’t do the traditional lifestyle)
    • Investments (only possible for people who already have money but leverage is key so bank loans for investments)
    • Stocks - I only do long term index funds (coz I can’t be bothered to check regularly so just gonna buy for at least a decade, should still be better than keeping all my money in the bank)
    • Property - I want to own my own eventually (so if I ever need to have a place to stay in), not possible for now :’) and not a good investment option in Singapore really
    • Make Stuff
      • courses - my skills are more of ‘coding’, ‘productivity systems’ and ‘content creator’ stuff so… maybe? I think people are interested in ‘how to be a youtuber’ / ‘how to automate your blog’ and I actually learnt a lot since I started.
      • themes? video edit transitions?
    • Consulting? Wells I can code so maybe if people want obsidian life os system setup help? I think August Bradley does a consultancy for Notion PPV System

Back Story / History

I tried Emacs (2016? a little, then 2020 till 2021) - I really love using chords (and registers to jump to fav files)

  • doom is the best! so much faster than spacemacs
  • tried a bullet journal style thing with org-mode
  • org-roam is pretty cool
  • maintaining emacs was too much of a pain

Then in 2021, I tried out Roam Research which was amazing but I found the web interface too slow

  • I really liked Calhistorian, some research setups and basically the Robert Haisfield showcases
  • Smartblocks - templates for morning
  • tag inheritance and queries
  • Also Roam Book Club 4 was a great way to learn the zettelkasten method + collaborative thinking. The writing exercises were just amazing.

A month later, I moved to Obsidian but really missed outliners so then I moved on to Logseq, which was local (on your computer) outliner + free but performance issues with too big files and queries made me switch back to Obsidian.

Currently using Obsidian (with a logseq integrated in but Obsidian is my main driver).

Best optimizations:
